Hey everyone, I'm at my wit's end here. My 2-year-old German Shepherd mix can destroy any toy I give him in literally minutes. I've tried the 'tough' rubber ones, the 'durable' rope toys, even those heavy-duty Kongs - he either shreds them or breaks pieces off within 5-10 minutes. I'm worried about him swallowing pieces, plus it's getting expensive! Does anyone have recommendations for TRULY indestructible dog toys? I'm willing to pay for quality if it'll last more than a week.

Oh honey, I feel your pain! My terrier mix is the same way - she's got jaws of steel. Here's what's worked for me: GoughNuts toys (they have a safety indicator if they chew through to the red layer), West Paw's Zogoflex line (they have a great warranty), and honestly? The black Kongs are the only Kongs that survive in my house. Also, try freezing toys with peanut butter or yogurt inside - keeps them busy longer and the cold makes the rubber tougher. Good luck!

Not a dog person myself (I keep geckos), but my neighbor has a power-chewer pitbull. He swears by those solid rubber toys made for horses - like the Jolly Pets balls. They're huge and heavy, but apparently nearly impossible to destroy. Also, have you considered antlers? My neighbor gives his dog elk antlers and they last months. Just make sure they're the right size for your dog's chewing style.

Reptile guy here too, but my sister has a boxer with the same issue. She got him a toy called the 'Bullymake Box' subscription - they're specifically designed for aggressive chewers and have a replacement guarantee if your dog destroys them. Also second the antler recommendation, but get the split ones if your dog isn't used to them. Oh, and avoid anything with squeakers - those are always the first thing to go!

Just wanted to add - be SUPER careful with antlers! They can crack teeth. My vet recommended against them for power chewers. Instead, try water buffalo horns - they're slightly softer. Also, rotate toys so your dog doesn't get bored and focus-destroy one toy. And always supervise with any new toy until you know how they'll handle it. Let us know what you try!
