Hey everyone, desperate dog owner here! My 2-year-old German Shepherd mix absolutely DESTROYS every toy I buy him within minutes. I've tried rubber toys, rope toys, plush toys with 'indestructible' labels - nothing lasts. He's not aggressive, just has insane chewing power and determination. I'm tired of wasting money and worried about him swallowing pieces. Any recommendations for toys that can actually survive this chewing machine? Bonus if they're available on Amazon or PetSmart!

lol welcome to the world of powerful jaws! As a reptile person, I don't have dogs, but my monitor lizard has similar destructive tendencies. For tough chewers, I've heard good things about Kong Extreme toys - the black ones specifically. They're designed for power chewers. Also, maybe try antlers or buffalo horns? They're natural and last way longer than most synthetic toys. Just watch for splintering with antlers.

Ugh, I feel you! My fussy cat Mr. Whiskers doesn't destroy toys (he just ignores 99% of them), but my sister's pitbull has the same issue. She swears by GoughNuts toys - they have a safety indicator so you know when to replace them. Also, have you tried freezing toys? Putting a Kong filled with peanut butter in the freezer makes it harder to destroy and keeps them busy longer. Just avoid anything with squeakers - those are the first to go!

Cat lady here, but I've fostered some tough chewers! The only things that survived were West Paw Zogoflex toys (they have a replacement guarantee) and Nylabone's power chew line. My friend's labrador has had the same Benebone for 6 months! Also, consider mental stimulation toys - sometimes destructive chewing is boredom. Puzzle feeders can redirect that energy. Good luck! PS: Avoid anything labeled 'for aggressive chewers' from cheap brands - it's usually marketing nonsense.
