Hey everyone, I just got a 1-year-old African Grey parrot and I'm looking for recommendations. Need a good harness for outdoor training (he's about 400g, 13 inches tall) and a spacious cage that'll keep him entertained. Budget is flexible but don't wanna waste money on junk. What brands/models have you had success with? Thanks!

lol birds are so messy, my cats would go nuts. But my sister has a cockatiel and she swears by the 'Aviator Harness' - says it's escape-proof. For cages, just get the biggest one you can fit, they need room to flap. My cat's 6-foot cat tree was cheaper than some bird cages I've seen tho, crazy!

Harness training takes patience! My Rottweiler hated his first harness but we stuck with it. For birds, I've heard leather ones are best - less chance of injury. That Aviator brand Chris mentioned gets good reviews in dog groups too (for small pets). Cage-wise, go for stainless steel if you can, easier to clean than powder-coated.

Not a bird person but the principles are similar for reptiles. Make sure the cage bar spacing is appropriate - you don't want escapes! For harnesses, gradual acclimation is key. I spend weeks getting my snakes used to handling before outdoor time. Also, consider temperature control for the cage location, birds are sensitive like reptiles.

My 4 cats would terrorize a bird, so no firsthand experience, but my neighbor has parrots. She uses a 'Feather Tether' harness and loves it. For cages, she recommended one with horizontal bars for climbing, and LOTS of toys. Honestly, birds seem needier than cats - her parrot's cage setup cost more than my entire cat furniture collection!
